Doula RISE reimbursement
Live in Michigan? The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services is offering reimbursement for doula trainings completed between October 1, 2026, and August 31, 2027. This is an incredible opportunity.
This program is unique in the nation!
If you're looking for an in-person, interactive, evidence-based training with trainers who understand the Michigan landscape, you've found it with us. And we love that you now have the opportunity to have your training reimbursed by the state of Michigan. Amazing.
Here's the process that has worked for our other doula students:
- Register and complete our birth doula or postpartum doula training, or both, to be completed by August 31, 2027. You have ONE reimbursement opportunity for up to $1,500. MDHHS has confirmed that our package of birth and postpartum training does qualify as one reimbursement. This is the best use of your reimbursement opportunity! The cost of the combined birth and postpartum training starts at $1,688, of which $1,500 would be reimbursable if you meet the other criteria of the program.
* - Become Medicaid-enrolled (we offer a Medicaid Quick-Start webinar to help you, or you can also do this on your own). Requirements to become Medicaid-enrolled: legal resident of Michigan (eligible to work), at least 18 years old, high school diploma or equivalent.
* - Submit an application to the MDHHS Doula RISE program for approval by mid-August 2027. You must have taken your training and be Medicaid enrolled to submit for approval.
* - Submit your paperwork the MDHHS for reimbursement by Aug. 31, 2027. Reimbursement may take up to 8 weeks.
